Opuni-Frimpong Is in Dire Need of Psycho-Spiritual Salvation

Feature Article Opuni-Frimpong Is in Dire Need of Psycho-Spiritual Salvation
MAR 10, 2024 LISTEN

Following the at once abominable and scandalous passage of the Anti-LGBTQ+ Bill into law by Ghana’s 8th Parliament on February 28, 2024, a prominent member of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, the Rev. Kwabena Opuni-Frimpong, was widely reported to have told a television program host that the speedy ratification of this patently fraudulent and blasphemous attempt by our underage-dating and raping parliamentarians to play God or Divine Providence would, somehow, go a long way to ensure that “the Church will be able to protect today’s generation and generations unborn” to healthily survive and prosper in perpetuity.”

The former General-Secretary of the Christian Council of Ghana (CCG) did not use the exact words captured in the above quote, but it was inescapably obvious, semiotically speaking, that that was precisely what the Rev. Opuni-Frimpong meant in toto (See “Opuni-Frimpong Urges Akufo-Addo to Quickly Approve Anti-LGBTQ Bill” Ghanaweb.Live 3/3/24). We have gone down this proverbial primrose path before and, time and time again, Dr. Opuni-Frimpong has shamefully and shockingly demonstrated that he tragically missed his true professional calling, when he decided to enroll into the University of Ghana-based Trinity College.

This is clearly a clueless preacher of the Holy Bible who would have done far better helping the Akufo-Addo Government to produce a bumper harvest for its “Feed Ghana” or “Planting for Food and Jobs” comprehensive national -development Agricultural Program. It is also scandalously obvious that Mr. Opuni-Frimpong never heard of the wantonly destructive environmental menace that is Galamsey, to wit, the small-scale illegal mining industry that has put the very existence of the present generation of Ghanaian citizens into suspended animation, else the New Juaben native, I am informed and promptly stand to be corrected, would not be blaming the members of the LGBTQ+ Community or subculture for existentially endangering the lives of our children, grandchildren and posterity.

Indeed, even as the renowned African American Human and Civil Rights Activist, the Rev. Alford “Al” Sharpton, Head of the New York City-based National Action Network (NAN) and host of the MSNBC-TV program “Politics Nation,” said in the wake of the racist shooting death of an African American high school student by the name of Yusef Hawkins, some 30-odd years ago, “You can be so intellectual that you become unintelligent.” Rev. Opuni-Frimpong is obviously one such pathologically self-absorbed and morally self-righteous cleric who makes Yours Truly unspeakably ashamed to have been born into the same General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana as the Rev. Opuni-Frimpong. He would be better off being nominated as the 2024 Presidential-Election Running-Mate of Candidate-General John “Gnassingbe” Dramani Mahama.

Ironically, Rev. Opuni-Frimpong could also very well be proudly wearing one of the LGBTQ+-designed expensive suits by companies owned by the Versaces and the Giorgio Armanis. And designer shoes as well. The list goes on and on ad infinitum. And he may very well, like many of his professional colleagues and associates, have stood in the pulpit innumerable times to show off his knowledge of Greco-Roman Philosophy by pompously rattling off Latinate quotations from such LGBTQ Thinkers like Plato, Aristotle and Socrates without the darndest clue about the sexual orientation of these globally celebrated and often-quoted polymathic geniuses of antiquity.

I have oftentimes said this before and hereby repeat the same, once again, that the most authentic and morally and psychologically constructive means of confronting the sticky issue of LGBTQ+ Culture or Subculture is to critically look into or more logically and wisely interrogate our own indigenous Ghanaian cultures and to properly figure out how such “behavioral anomalies and oddities” were dealt with in the precolonial past, and not thoughtlessly and recklessly project the ethnocultural neurosis of cultural and religious outsiders on ourselves and our kind. The path taken by the Opuni-Frimpongs and the Foh-Amoanings is precisely how to spell the word “MADNESS,” which is also precisely what Messrs. Opuni-Frimpong and Foh-Amoaning and their self-righteous colleagues and associated think-alikes peevishly and scandalously appear to be doing.

Recently, a healthy revolution appears to have taken grips of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana and such cognate allies as the General Conference of the Method and the Anglican Churches, and may very well have, ironically, originated with the African-American-founded African Methodist Episcopal Church, more popularly known as the AME-Zion Church (Circa. 1816). It is also very preposterous for Dr. Opuni-Frimpong to claim to believe in democratic political culture and governance, without also demonstrating any appreciable understanding of the democratic tenet of “Individual Freedom” and the jealous and the conscientious protection of ethnic and cultural minorities, no matter how execrable the affiliates and the subscribers of the majority culture may deem their minority cultural counterparts.

It is also quite obvious that Rev. Opuni-Frimpong has absolutely no remarkably informed or educated person’s clue about the democratic principle of the Separation of Church/Religion and the State. If he lived right here in the United States of America and practiced his patently false brand of Christianity, trust me, he would have since long been ordered by his State of residence and the Federal government to register his church as a political party bereft of or legally unqualified for the standard tax-exemption status. By the way, where is Twene Jonas?
