In the wake of Prof. Jane Naana Opoku Agyemang's selection as the National Democratic Congress (NDC) running mate for the 2024 election, stakeholders advise the party to focus on Ghana's welfare rather than engaging in political competition.

Queen Mother Mama Awudey I of Abutia Teti in the Volta region shared her perspective during an interview on Ho-based Swiss FM's "Recap Show" International Women's Day edition on Friday, March 8.

She emphasized that Naana's appointment should serve the nation's interest, urging the NDC to present her as a candidate for all Ghanaians, rather than solely for party gains.

Mama Awudey I cautioned against pitting Naana against other running mates, stressing the need for her selection to symbolize democratic values.

Addressing concerns about Naana's political inclination, Mama Attrato II, Queen Mother of Ho Dome, endorsed Naana Opoku Agyemang as the ideal choice for Ghana. She highlighted the pervasive corruption in the country and expressed confidence in Naana's integrity to combat this challenge.

Responding to critics, Hon. Sefadzi Agama, the NDC Communications Officer for Ho Central Constituency, assured that Naana's nomination is not intended to compete with other parties' candidates but to address pressing national issues. He underscored Naana's competence in education and her commitment to combating corruption, job creation, and educational reform.

The consensus among stakeholders is that Naana Opoku Agyemang's candidacy represents an opportunity for the NDC to prioritize Ghana's development and unity over political rivalries.
