A new nationwide poll has found that over two-thirds of Ghanaian voters say they have already decided who they will vote for in the 2024 presidential and parliamentary elections.

According to the poll conducted by independent research firm Global InfoAnalytics, 67% of respondents stated that they have made up their minds on which candidate or party they intend to vote for when they go to the polls on December 7, 2024.

Only 17% said they remain neutral about changing their position, while 16% indicated they could still be swayed to support another candidate or party.

The poll suggests that voting intentions have already solidified in many parts of the country, leaving the main political parties with little room to gain new supporters.

"Analysis of the poll also shows that in the critical swing region, Greater Accra, 87% said they are unlikely to change their mind," said a spokesperson from Global InfoAnalytics.

Other swing regions like Central (79%) and Western (57%) also reported high percentages of voters who say their minds are already made up.

However, the poll uncovered some vulnerabilities for the two major parties in their traditional strongholds.

In the Ashanti Region, which strongly supports the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), 67% say they won't change their vote but a sizeable minority may still be persuaded.

In the Volta Region, the NDC's base of support, only 42% said they won't change their minds, indicating the opposition party cannot take votes there for granted.
