JAN 22, 2024 LISTEN

The Chief of Heman, Nana Apau Wiafe Ababio Sanwoansan has piled pressure on Hon. Christian Adu Poku, the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Afigya Kwabre South, demanding reasons for the delayed fixing of the dilapidated road in his community.

JOSHOB contracted for the construction is said to be on site resurfacing some of the bad roads Heman inclusive within the district.

However, the Chief has pointed out that it appears the project has been abandoned, explaining that the contractor after grading a few portions of the road has not returned to complete the construction.

A stretch of road before his palace is in a sorry state. Its dusty nature has made living in the area uncomfortable for residents.

At his palace on Friday 19th January, 2024, the Chief pointed to the DCE the number of people knocked down by vehicles in the community due to the bad nature of the road.

He mentioned that last year, six deaths were recorded and three this year aside injuries.

Among the deceased, he noted include a nurse and a doctor.

The Chief indicated that inhalation of the dust by residents has exposed the aged in the community to respiratory diseases.

In response to the above, DCE cleared that the Heman road has not been abandoned by the contractor.

He noted that the contractor is on site working, assuring that Heman Road will be asphalted and completed between February and March this year.

Addressing the media, Hon. Christian Adu-Poku called on residents of the community to exercise patience.

He promised to ensure that all ongoing projects are executed well to the benefit of the community.
