The honorable Member of Parliament for the Salaga South Constituency, Hajia Zuwera Mohammed Ibrahimah has supported hairdressers and dressmakers in her constituency with some sewing machines and hair dryers.
This forms part of ongoing efforts by the only female legislator in the Savannah Region to empower women in skill acquisition in the constituency to stay productive and economically viable.
She presented a total of 30 modern sewing machines and 30 hair drying machines to the Salaga Dressmakers and Hairdressers Association for onward distribution to beneficiaries.
The presentation the legislator noted, was in fulfilment of a promise she made to the associations last year during the MP's End of Year Inter-Wards Soccer Gala competition, which witnessed both associations playing a football match to climax the competition.
During the tournament, the MP pledged to support the leadership of both associations with some sewing machines and hair dryers to boost their skills and vocational training.
In a short address on the sidelines of the presentation, the Member of Parliament said the donation was a continuation of a plan that is already in motion aimed at providing support packages to her constituents who want to venture into apprenticeship.
The Member of Parliament made a similar donation of forty (40) sewing machines to women and mothers of the Lively Minds Programme in Kafaba at the Kafaba No. 2 M/A Primary School.
She expressed confidence that the beneficiaries would put the items donated into good use to enhance their self-engineered businesses and boost the overall developmental agenda of the Salaga South Constituency.
