The military in Bawku in the Upper East Region fired multiple warning shots to disperse hundreds of angry women who invaded the residence of the commander of the military in Bawku to register their displeasure over the killing of three civilians recently.

At about 10:45am on Friday 19th January, hundreds of angry women and residents marched to the residences of the military commander amid drumming and chanting.

According to the angry women, their husbands are being targeted and killed by the military for no reason.

The women called on the clergy and all the civil society groups to intervene in the Bawku conflict.

Three young civilians were alleged to have been shot and killed by the military at Sabongari, a suburb of Bawku in a recent shooting incident.

The victims, according to their families were unarmed and sitting in front of their houses before curfew hours when they met their untimely death.

But sources from the military claim the three civilians exchanged fire with them.

The sources say the military were on patrol around 8:30pm during curfew hours when they spotted the group and upon approaching them they fired on them.
