Elohim Theological College and Seminary recently honoured Hon. Samuel Alberto Tekyi, the Director of IBS Educational Complex and former District Chief of Wassa Amenfi West with an Honorary Doctor of Human Letters (D.HL).

The college recognized his outstanding contributions to humanitarian and philanthropic work, intellectual insight, and research on issues relating to community development.

The Doctoral Board of Elohim Theological College and Seminary, under the leadership of Archbishop Elect Dr. Kwame Aburam Anoff SR conferred the Honorary Doctorate Degree in Human Letters upon Mr. Samuel Alberto Tekyi.

The celebratory event took place at the Asankrangwa James Mackown Temple on Friday, 12th January, 2024, where he was awarded the Doctorate Degree.

Hon. Alberto Tekyi's meritorious achievements were acknowledged by Elohim Theological College, particularly his role in establishing schools in Amenfi West for over 34 years and providing job opportunities for the youth. In addition, he has held various leadership positions, such as serving as the Assembly Member for Nkwantanum in 1988, being elected as the 1st presiding member in 1989, and appointed as the District Chief Executive for Wassa Amenfi in May 2001.

As DCE, he was elected as Western Regional Representative of the National Association of Local Authorities of Ghana (NALAG) and Vice President of the same Association.

Since 2017, Hon. Samuel Tekyi has served as a member of the Western Regional Lands Commission and is currently a member/secretary of the ruling NPP Government.

Following the recognition, Hon. Samuel Alberto Tekyi was formally outdoored to the students and staff of IBS Educational Complex at the school's assembly grounds. The procession was accompanied by the school's administrator, Mr. Obiri Yeboah, Mr. Edward Smith the school's accountant, Mrs Agnes Obiri Yeboah, headmistress and all the teachers. The event was captivating, with students and teachers marching together. The performance by the band and the impressive display of the drum major stick by Nyamekye Armah added to the excitement of the occasion.

During his address to the students, Hon. Samuel Alberto Tekyi emphasized the importance of hard work and encouraged them to strive towards making their own contributions to society. His intention was to inspire the students, reminding them that their efforts and dedication to their studies could lead to a future where they are recognized for their positive contributions.
