Stephen Atubiga, founder and leader of the National Liberation Congress (NLC) has praised Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia for his assurance to chart his own course if elected president.

In a Facebook post on Monday, November 6, Mr. Atubiga said Dr. Bawumia's promise in his victory speech to be "a man of his own" has earned him respect and trust as an honest leader.

He wrote: "Dr Bawumia assuring Ghanaians to be a man of his own and vision as president in his victory speech, has secured him respect, and trust of honesty as a virgin."

In his acceptance speech after winning the NPP flagbearership race, Dr. Bawumia emphasized that he has his own vision for Ghana.

"I have my own vision and my own priorities. Given the opportunity by you and the people of Ghana to lead, I shall govern as my own man with guidance from God almighty," he said.

Dr. Bawumia outlined his ambition of building "an inclusive food self-sufficient, data-driven and systems-based nation that will fully participate in the global digital revolution."

The 2024 general elections, according to many electoral observers, will be a keenly contested one as the NDC vows to wrestle power from the NPP while the ruling party plans to break the 8-year jinx of governance to retain power.
