Critics Condemnation of Johnson Asiedu Nketia's statement on Ghana's stability and democratic process
OCT 10, 2023 LISTEN

I, Delanyo Agbe, a devoted activist within the National Democratic Congress (NDC), express my vehement condemnation of the recent statement made by Mr. Johnson Asiedu Nketia, the Chairman of the NDC, wherein he disturbingly mentioned that "Ghana is ripe for a coup d'etat."

Ghana, as a nation, has firmly embraced the principles of democracy, and this statement is not only alarming but also in complete contradiction to the democratic foundation that our nation stands upon. The call for any undemocratic change, especially one as drastic as a coup, poses a significant threat to the peace, stability, and progress we have tirelessly worked to achieve.

We must be resolute in our commitment to the democratic process. Democracy is not just a choice; it is a reflection of our collective will to ensure justice, equality, and the sanctity of our constitution. We cannot afford to take any action that would jeopardize the democratic fabric that binds our nation together.

Advocating for a coup is not only irresponsible but could have disastrous consequences for our nation and its citizens. It undermines the years of democratic progress we have made and threatens our standing in the international community as a beacon of democracy on the African continent.

In light of the gravity of this statement, I join many concerned citizens in urging for Mr. Johnson Asiedu Nketia to be held accountable for his words. I appeal to the relevant authorities to thoroughly investigate this matter and take appropriate legal action if necessary.

Our party, the NDC, has always upheld democratic values and principles. It is crucial for our leaders to exemplify these values and foster an environment of responsible dialogue and respect for democratic processes. It is only through unity and adherence to these principles that we can continue to build a better and stronger Ghana for all.

Let us stand united in the defense of our democracy and work towards a prosperous and united nation.

Thank you.
Sincerely,
Delanyo Agbe
NDC Activist
