Former Finance Minister Seth Terkper has reacted to Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s confidence of defeating the opposition NDC’s flagbearer John Dramani Mahama in the 2024 general elections if chosen as the NPP’s flagbearer on November 4 by his party delegates.

Speaking to party delegates in the Oti region, the NPP flagbearer aspirant said he will give the one-time president a showdown in the NDC’s strongholds and win the upcoming elections.

But the former Finance Minister urged the Vice President to first consider solving the plight of Ghanaians inflicted on them by the economic quagmire.

Speaking on Accra-based Starr FM, Mr. Seth Terkper stressed that the debate about giving the NDC a showdown is unnecessary looking at the current government’s poor economic performance.

“Before we even consider a showdown between Vice President Bawumia and former President Mahama, the NPP led by President Nana Addo Dankwa and Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia must first address the pressing economic concerns that many Ghanaians have,” Mr. Terkper stated.

Meanwhile, the ruling NPP is set to hold its flagbearer election on November 4, to choose among Kennedy Agyapong, Owusu Afriyie Akoto, Francis Addai Nimoh and the Vice President, who will be leading the party in its bid to break the eight-year cycle of governance.
