Twenty people who were alleged to be loitering around various polling stations in the Nkoranza North Constituency were arrested and detained at the Nkoranza police station.

Nineteen of these people who came from the north were alleged to be NDC supporters and sympathisers while one was an NPP supporter from Offinso in the Ashanti Region.

The Brong Ahafo Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP), Kwaku Ayensu Opare-Addo, told newsmen at Nkoranza that those detained were arrested during voting time at the various polling stations.

According to him, the police received intelligence report that people were hired outside the constituency to come and forment trouble on the voting day.

DCOP Opare-Addo said it was realised that the people who were detained did not come from the constituency, adding that the report further stated that the detainees were also planning to snatch ballot boxes when voting was over.

He, however, said they would be released after the voting exercise.

Meanwhile, Mr Sydney Kwofie of the Training Department of the Electoral Commission, in an interview, said at 11:00 a.m., over 50 per cent of the voters had cast their ballot in 10 of the polling stations.
