Farouk Aliu Mahama, Member of Parliament for Yendi has said flagbearer aspirant of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Alan Kyerematen's leadership skills will best serving as a minister in Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia's government.

Mr. Mahama describes Alan Kyerematen as intelligent and respected.

Speaking in an interview on Starr News, said Alan Kyerematen must stop the “it’s my turn” mantra and rally behind Dr. Bawumia to become the President of Ghana.

“Alan is somebody who is very respected and who has carried himself well, very intelligent. We will need him to become a Minister under Bawumia but there shouldn’t be a yardstick for you to say that you have suffered."

Mr. Aliu Mahama added, “The Vice President has suffered for the party. He has been an existing important creature in the space of Ghanaian politics for the last sixteen years. He didn’t win for almost ten years and he patiently waited. So for Alan to say it’s my turn mantra, such a mantra has been shot down. Because Apreku too is senior to Alan and when you say suffering we’ve all suffered. Bawumia has also suffered, Alan too, all of them but the suffering will be determined by the delegates.”

However, Alan Kyerematen's campaign communication team spokesperson, Richard Nyamah has said delegates should disregard comments by the Member of Parliament for Yendi, Farouk Aliu Mahama since he is a novice in politics.

Speaking on Morning Starr with Francis Abban, the Campaign Spokesperson indicated that the lawmaker does not deserve a response.

“Farouk Aliu Mahama is my junior brother, he is new to politics, he does understand what he is doing and saying so I’m not going to glorify what he said. His father was a politician, he just got into Parliament.

“He doesn’t have the experience and gravitas to say some of the things he is saying. He is just saying them because he needs to be heard. It is his opinion, I won’t glorify him with a response.”
