Isaac Laryea, a driver's mate, has been sentenced to 10 years imprisonment by an Accra Circuit Court for luring a 15-year-old girl kenkey seller to his house and keeping her for a week.

He is reported to have locked up the victim in his room at Dansoman in Accra, and sexually abused her.

Laryea pleaded guilty to the charges of abduction and defilement and the court, presided over by Justice Kwame Asiedu, convicted him on his own plea.

The court was informed that both the accused and the victim, a kenkey seller, lived in the same area in Dansoman, Accra.

Laryea, who is a regular customer of the victim, asked her one day to board his vehicle to his house to enable him to buy some kenkey and she obliged.

On reaching his house, Laryea detained the victim in his room for a week during which he had sex with her.

According to the prosecution, the victim became pregnant and informed Laryea, who forced her to drink coke mixed with some herbs to attempts to terminate the pregnancy.

She bled profusely after taking the mixture and had to be rushed to the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital for treatment.

She mentioned Laryea's name and the case was reported to the Dansoman Police who arrested him.
