NPP flagbearer race: Alan Kyerematen to kickstart nationwide delegate engagement July 4

Alan Kyerematen, a frontrunner in the New Patriotic Party flagbearership race, has kicked off his campaign tour to woo party delegates ahead of the party's internal elections.

The campaign dubbed "constituency delegates durbar" will see Mr. Kyerematen engage directly with NPP delegates across the country.

In a Facebook post on Monday, July 3, the former Trade and Industry Minister announced he was kicking off the nationwide tour the next day.

"Fellow patriots, I will kickstart my Constituency Delegates Durbar across the country tomorrow to share my vision for the party and Ghana. Please make time and let’s meet," he wrote.

The "Alan Kyerematen for President" campaign says the regional durbars will provide an opportunity for delegates from different constituencies to interact and devise strategies to help Mr. Kyeremanten's campaign.

According to a statement from the campaign team, the tour will start on Tuesday, July 4 in the Greater Accra Region and will move to other regions.

"Starting from the Greater Accra Region on Tuesday 4th July 2023, Alan Cash will meet Delegates in Clusters of constituencies to share his vision for the Party and Ghana," the statement said.

Mr. Kyerematen's campaign is seen as a key part of his effort to win the NPP flagbearership contest.

He faces competition from Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia and other stalwarts.

All candidates seeking to lead the NPP into the 2024 elections will have to face the party's vetting committee chaired by former Speaker Aaron Mike Oquaye, beginning from today, July 3.

Meanwhile, the party will select the flagbearer in a national congress slated for November 4.
