President Wavel Ramkalawan of the Seychelles and First Lady Linda Ramkalawan concluded their state visit to the Maldives on Friday, marking a milestone in bilateral relations between the two island nations.

Arriving in the Maldives on Sunday for the state visit, the Seychellois President and First Lady were cordially welcomed by President Solih and First Lady Fazna Ahmed. The visit included a series of official talks between the two heads of state, followed by a joint statement underscoring mutual cooperation.

During the visit, President Ramkalawan and President Solih signed several agreements that established frameworks for bilateral cooperation in various sectors. The specifics of the areas of cooperation, however, have not been disclosed.

The Maldivian President and First Lady honoured their guests with a state luncheon. Before the lunch, the two First Ladies visited the Fiyavathi state care facility in Hulhumalé, showcasing the Maldives' efforts in social care.

The Vice President of Maldives, Faisal Naseem, also held a separate meeting with President Ramkalawan during his stay, further bolstering the diplomatic ties.

Following the visit, a joint communiqué issued by the two countries reaffirmed their enduring friendship and mutual commitment to continue cooperation in mutually beneficial areas. The visit is seen as a significant step in strengthening ties between the Seychelles and the Maldives.
