23-year-old labourer arrested for allegedly sodomizing 9-year-old

A 23-year-old labourer, Isyaku Lawal, has been arrested by the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Jigawa State for allegedly sodomizing a nine-year-old boy.

The incident, which occurred in Chiromari village, Malam Madori LGA in Nigeria, was reported to the NSCDC by the victim's father after his daughter, an elder sister to the victim, informed him of the abuse.

According to the complaint lodged by the father, the victim was taken to an isolated place by the suspect while playing with his friends in the evening.

The suspect removed the boy's trousers and had canal knowledge of him, after which he warned him not to tell anyone and promised to buy him sweets, a promise which he failed to fulfil.

The victim later disclosed the incident to his sister due to the unfulfilled promise, who also informed their father.

Medical examinations conducted at the Sexual Assault Referral Centre (SARC) at General Hospital Dutse showed repeated rectal penetrations and bruises in the anal area, confirming the sexual abuse.

The NSCDC commandant in Jigawa State, who confirmed the incident in a statement shared on their Facebook page, said the suspect has confessed to the crime and will be charged to court of competent jurisdiction to expedite justice.

The command also urged parents and guardians to be vigilant and protect their children from sexual predators.

TWENTY THREE YEAR OLD ARRESTED ON A SUSPECTED CASE OF SODOMY

Operatives of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Jigawa Command, on Sunday, 4th day of June, 2023, arrested one Isyaku Lawal (Dan Babani), a labourer by occupation, aged Twenty Three (23) of Chiromari village, Malam Madori LGA for allegedly sodomizing a nine (9) year old boy (name withheld) of same address which is contrary to section 284 of the PCL of Jigawa State and punishable under same.

The arrest was prompted upon receipt of a complaint lodged by the father of the victim, who stated that his daughter, an elder Sister to the victim, reported to him that her sibling was sexually abused by the suspect.

Upon questioning, the boy stated that he was taken to an isolated place in the evening while he was playing alongside his friends by the suspect who removed his trousers and had canal knowledge of him, thereafter urged him not to tell anyone and promised to buy him sweets, a promise which he failed to fulfil and which made him to expose the incident to his Sister.
