Mr. Benjamin Kofi Quashie, the Chairman of the South African Council of Elders of the National Democratic Congress has said the ailing economy of Ghana has exposed the New Patriotic Party government's incompetence.

He said the weak fundamentals have exposed NPP government.

Citing Dr. Bawumia's infamous statement that "when the fundamentals are weak, the exchange rate would expose you," he said the ruling government is clueless.

Speaking on Adwenekasa with Owusu Adjei on Original 91.9 FM, he said "Their taxations have quadrupled. Is it that because they are at the top they don't care about those beneath the ladder?"

Mr. Benjamin Quashie argued that other countries are facing challenges across the globe but the difference is that most countries have "proactive means of solving their problems. What is the current Nana Addo and Bawumia government doing about the current problem?"

According to him, "when that NDC had problems with the economy, it held the Senchi consensus and sought for an IMF support to shore up the economy. That time they called us incompetent.

"But, what do we see today? Even the processes that would lead them to getting the IMF loan, they're not getting it right. The late Dr. Akoto Osei said, "Is this what we call we have the men?" We don't have any men."

The SA Council Chair added that during a radio discussion sometime ago, Minister of Communications and Digitalisation Ursula Owusu-Ekuful stated that "if governance was about borrowing and spending then her 18 or 17 year old child could do that better."

"They are in government and Madam Ursula Owusu has the guts and aplomb to name a government facility built with state funds after her late mother. If this is not about 'yɛgye yɛman', then what it is? In 2024 we would see those who really think they're taking over the nation. You see the elections would be about issues and what we can do as an alternative", he emphasised.
