The District Director of Education in the Ahafo-Ano North District, Mrs Naana Abudu, has expressed concern at the rate at which school lands in the district are being encroached upon.
Naana Abudu who was speaking at Tepa during a meeting with public basic school heads, said the encroachment was with the tacit support of some traditional rulers.
She advised the headteachers and circuit supervisors to collaborate with School Management Committees to ensure proper demarcation and documentation of school lands to check encroachment.
The Director said reports showed that when the schools re-opened on January 9, more than half of teachers in the district did not attend classes.
She described the situation as unacceptable and advised the teachers not to repeat such unprofessional attitude.
