The Member of Parliament (MP) for Nsawam-Adoagyiri, Frank Annor Dompreh has expressed concern over the consequences of Hopeson Yaovi Adorye's anti-Northerners remarks on the NPP electoral chances.

He is requesting that the Trade and Industry Minister, Mr. Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen order his Director of Operations to retract his remarks immediately for the sake of the peace in the party.

“Chief Alan Kyeremanteng should as a matter of urgency call on his Director of Operation, Hopeson to retract his unfortunate comment forthwith..

“We have a beautiful Party with a respected tradition, let's conduct a civil and clean campaign,” he stated in a tweet seen by Modernghana News on Sunday, August 14.

This comes after the former NPP Parliamentary candidate for the Kpone-Katamanso constituency and Alan's campaign Director of Operations stated at a pro-Alan health walk in Kumasi on Saturday, August 13 that Northerners in the NPP are only fit to be running mates and not flagbearers.

Meanwhile, Hopeson Adorye in a statement on Sunday, August 14, clarified his widely criticized comments against Vice President Bawumia and NPP Northerners.

In his defence, Mr. Adorye claims members of Bawumia's camp doctored his viral video for mishief purposes.

He explained that “I wish to state categorically that, I never said in plain words that Northerners are fit for running mates. The video is partly doctored for mischief by Bawumia's Camp.

“For the avoidance of doubt, I stated that in NPP there is a particular formula that has been used since the formation of the Party. The formula is Christian-Muslim Ticket.”
