Accra Technical University (ATU) on Friday, June 17, 2022, saw the take off of the 2022 edition of the MTN Ghana Staff voluntary 21-Days Yello care program.

Mr. Robert Kuzoe, the Senior Manager for Sustainability and Social Impact, delivered the opening speech at the launch.

In his speech, he noted that MTN, as a corporate organization, holds the month of June very special and, as such, organizes the 21 Days of Yello care program that always takes off from the 1st to the 21st of June every year.

He cited that the special relationship MTN and Ghana enjoy as a motivating factor for ensuring the country's quest for development is achieved.

“The relationship we have with Ghana motivates us to develop initiatives that will help us contribute meaningfully to Ghana’s development,” he noted.

Mr. Kuzoe uncovered the theme for this year's Yello Care program which is “Empowering Communities to Drive Economic Recovery (and job creation).”

According to him, the theme has become necessary because the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic has seen a decline in the country's economic productivity.

“Considering the fact, that we are gradually coming out of a pandemic that has had and continues to have devastating effects on lives and livelihoods.

“Having experienced the devastating effects of COVID 19, we have been charged with the mandate to explore innovative ways to help our communities with the recovery process,” he added

Mr. Kuzoe outlined the areas in which the 2022 edition seeks to concentrate and where their scheduled activities have been directed to place adequate emphasis to ensure they are achieved before the program ends.

“With the theme and objectives in mind, this year’s 21 Days of Y’ello Care will focus on youth/graduate unemployment, financial inclusion, and digital skills training,” he said.

Mr. Kofi Ofosu Nkansah, The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Plan (NEIP) delivered the keynote address at the program.

In his address, he noted that the theme for the program is in line with the vision of the government's ‘Obatanpa’ care program which seeks to revitalize the economy from the post-Covid-19 effects.

“The theme aligns with the government's budget which is developing a sustainable entrepreneurial nation, fiscal consultation, and job creation. It also aligns with the government's recovery program, which is the Obatanpa which is a stimulus package meant to revitalize the post-covid-19 economic effects,” he said

“So it is timely to see MTN going in that same direction,” he added.

The program was attended by other staff members of MTN Ghana and representatives from Jobberman Ghana Limited and members of the media fraternity.

The 21-Days Yello Care program is under the umbrella of the MTN Ghana Foundation, which seeks to contribute a reasonable quota to the nation's development in areas such as education, health, employment, and several other sectors.

It also strives to ensure that MTN continues to strengthen and uplift all its community members in its pursuit of economic development within each community.
