Akatsi North: MP, DCE jointly donate 400 dual desk to Basic schools

Mr Nortsu Kotoe, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Akatsi North constituency and Mr Peter Simon Ofori, the Akatsi North District Chief Executive (DCE) have jointly donated a total of 400 dual desks to GES at the District assembly premises to improve education in the area.

According to Mr Nortsu Kotoe, the donation will relieve school children from carrying tables and chairs from their homes to school.

He said the dual desks supported by GETFUND will be distributed to various schools in the district.

He added that currently three 6-unit classroom blocks are under construction with a boys dormitory completed at Ave Senior High school (Avesco).

"In 2021, five Kindergarten classroom blocks were constructed with the help of GETFUND," he added.

He continued "we are trying to curb challenges such inadequate teacher, lack of teaching and learning materials, bad on no electricity at deprived areas where most teachers deny been posted to".

Mr Peter Simon Ofori in his turn disclosed to the media that the problems facing the district are gradually being addressed.

"I thanked GETFUND for the provision of the 400 desks that are going for 800 seating places for students, cupboard, office chairs and library furniture, " he stated.

He urged teachers to take good care of the items.

Mr Felix Confidence Agbovi, the Akatsi North District administrative and finance director who represent and received the items on behalf of Akatsi North GES expressed excitement over the support.

He appeals to government, individuals and philanthropists to help solve challenges confronting education in the district.
