ER: Man arrested for defiling alleged lesbian at Yilo Krobo

A 25-year-old man has been arrested by the police for allegedly defiling a teenager suspected to be a lesbian at Nkurakan, a suburb of the Yilo Krobo Municipality in the Eastern region.

Identified as Julius Boateng Tettey, the man who is a barber is reported to have forcibly had sexual intercourse with the 15-year-old girl together with his friend popularly known as ‘Ire’.

At the Koforidua Circuit Court “A” Presided by Her Honour Marian Affoh on Thursday October 28, 2021, the Prosecuting Officer Chief Inspector Owusu Ababio said Julius Boateng Tettey stays in the same house with the victim and her girlfriend.

He narrated that on suspicion of the victim being a lesbian, the accused and his friend confronted the victim and asked her to confess.

The victim who was with her friend at the time admitted to the claim.

Later in the day after 11pm, the accused plotted with his friend and entered the room of the two teen girls asking for sex in exchange for money.

After they refused, the two suspects dragged the girls into their room in an attempt to forcibly have sex with them.

In the room of Julius Boateng Tettey, one of the girls luckily escaped but the other was defiled as the two suspects took turns to have sex with her.

The two suspects after the act, also stole two mobile phones of the victim worth GHS780 and also made away with her rice cooker valued at GHS300.

The following day, the victim reported the case at the Domestic Violence and Victims Support Unit (DOVVSU), at the Eastern Regional Headquarters.

With a medical examination confirming that the victim had indeed been defiled, the Prosecuting officer Chief Inspector Owusu Ababio charged the accused person with six counts of conspiracy to commit crime to wit defilement, causing unlawful damage, unlawful entry, stealing, and escaping from lawful custody.

Having pleaded not guilty, Julius Boateng Tettey has been granted bail of GHS60,000 with two sureties, one to be justified.

The Police are currently chasing the other suspect who is on the run.
