That Ghc5m Ghana Award House Construction

The Executive Director for Damak Sanitation Watch and Health, Mr. Daniel Mbabugri Akgri has stated unequivocally the manner in which Ghana’s politicians are toying with the country’s future describing the situation as a threat to national development.

In a press statement, Mr. Mbabugri called on the president to reconsider his decision to construct the Ghc5m “Ghana Award House” project and drop that Ghana Award House.

The president made the call when he cut sod for the commencement of the project.

The president pronouncements which attracted huge backlashes from Ghanaians, Mr. Mbabugri said, it’s unthinkable for a country that is struggling to have stable power supply and affordable health care delivery, and good educational system to spend a whopping of Ghc5m for a project that has no use or direct benefit to the nation.

The country's economy is struggling to stand firmly on it feet’s and the Finance Minister, Mr. Ken Ofori 1c empower our institutions, yet, such albatross mount is estimated to pump into such wasteful project.

Many schools are still learning under trees as a result of limited facilities, men and women are using the same wards in most hospitals due to unavailability of hospitals-beds and infrastructure. All this, according to him is a situation the president and his team of minsters should be more concern about.

Mr. Mbabugri reiterated that its time the good people of Ghana put their politician-slavery aside and hold politicians accountable.

Ghanaians, he said, have suddenly ' their integrity for mere political bread and butter and allowing politicians to put the lives of Ghanaians in danger.

Mr. President, we Damak Sanitation Watch and Health believes the well-being of the ordinary Ghanaian should place first in your quest to rule the nation. “Your efforts to leave a legacy after your presidency should be a legacy of good name not a legacy that will not serve the interest of the people…half of the Ghanaian population was vehemently against the construction of the National Cathedral how much more ‘Award House’ for Ghana Award House Scheme?.

We, as a group focus on empowering clean and safe environment, will like to state with authority that there is a chunk of unresolved sanitation, health care and education challenges that is confronting the country need to be ironed by your government.

We thus deem it appropriate to use this medium to appeal with seriousness it deserve to the president to as a matter of national interst and think first the welfare of Mother Ghana and drop that ''Ghc5 million Ghana Award House Project''.
