As part of the government's measures in fighting the COVID-19 pandemic in the country, 5,200 Junior High Schools and 79 Senior High Schools in the Northern region are set to benefit from phase 3 of the nationwide disinfection exercise ahead of reopening of schools on 5th October.

Following the announcement by President Nana Akufo-Addo that form 2 students of both JHS and SHS will return to school, it has paved way for the disinfection and fumigation of schools in the Northern region.

The disinfection exercise, which commenced on Thursday, in Tamale, and set for the next ten days have started with Tiyumba S/D School and Kalponhin S/D School A and B.

In an interview with the Headmaster of Tiyumba, Chief Justice Sulley, he noted that the national disinfection exercises have helped a lot in containing the spread of the virus.

According to him, the school is ready and prepared to adhere to all the COVID-19 protocols when school resumes.

"We are ready to welcome back our 180 students, we have all measures put in place for the school to adhere to the protocols", he said.

He commended the Government of Ghana and Zoomlion Ghana for their efforts in the fight against the virus and urged parents to educate their children on the need to continuously observe the COVID-19 preventive protocols.
