Chiefs in Dagbon have expressed their readiness to support the new Northern Regional Minister, Alhaji Mustapha Ali Idris to ensure the smooth administration of the region.

They said as “custodians of the land, they owe it a duty to collaborate and cooperate with any government appointee in the region to enhance its development.”

Kampakuya-Na Abdulai Yakubu Andani, the regent of late Ya-Na Yakubu Andani gave this assurance at the Gbewaa Palace on behalf of the chiefs when the former Regional Minister Alhaji Boniface Saddique introduced Alhaji Idris to him and his elders.

He reminded the minister that the task ahead of him was very heavy which required patience, tolerance and humility to succeed.

The regent therefore challenged Alhaji Idris to live up to the great responsibility and confidence reposed in him by the government to improve the lives of the people.

He also urged the minister to tackle indiscipline among the youth in the region with the seriousness that it deserves.

In Tamale the regent of Gukpegu, Alhaji Ziblim Abdulai advised the minister to endeavour to accommodate everybody in the region.

Alhaji Ziblim called on the supporters of the various political parties to bury their differences and cooperate with the new administration to bring development to the region.

Alhaji Idris pledged to maintain close contact with the various chiefs in the region and assured them that his doors were always opened for suggestions on how to move the region forward.

The minister invited all the people to join hands in fighting against poverty, diseases and hunger in the area.
