The Ghana Football Association has for the first time decided to sponsor this year's National Middle League to a tune of 120 million cedis after original sponsors FUN PLAY GHANA LIMITED pulled out of the sponsorship agreement. FUN PLAY LTD entered into a time-bound agreement with the Division One League to sponsor the league but the commencement of the league was stalled ! due to a court injunction put on it by Alhaji Asuma Banda.

This dragged on for sometime before an Accra High Court ruled in favour of the FA and ordered the bu siness magnate to pay an amount of three million cedis to the Association. The delay in the league's kick-off forced the sponsors to pull out because according to them the Division One league failed to live up to the agreement. The GFA's move to sponsor the league is unprecedented in the history of football in the ! country and it is seen by many as an indication of the willingness of the new GFA to chart a new course for Ghana football. The league will commence this Saturday at three venues, the Nkawkaw Park, El Wak stadium and Cape Coast Siwdu Park.

The league is expected to end on the 11th of March.

After which the third placed team will play Okwawu United in a play-off.
