Factional fighting in Tuobodom in Brong Ahafo Region has left at least four person injured.
The injured, most of whom suffered gunshot woulds, are on admission at the Techiman Regional Hospital.
Reports say the clash was prompted by disagreements between rival chiefs in Tuobodom.
One faction had attempted to restrain the other from performing customary rights for the yam festival. And the Omanhene of Techiman who was on his way to grace the occasion had to retreat after combatants mounted road blocks and started firing.
A journalist Awudu Iddrissu who was on the scene of the encounter told Joy News there is a heavy deployment of security personnel in the town to restore order.
Tuobodom is a town split between two traditional factions. While one pays homage to the Chief of Techiman, the other pays allegiance to the Asantehene.
Although this is the first time such a misunderstanding has ensued between the two groups, reports say the situation could get worse.
