I am still in Tehran.
The NAM Ministerial Conference took me there.
Interesting place. Interesting experiences. More on those when I return
home.

But what is this I hear that a story in the ADM has caused "havoc"?
Did the NPP think with 17 presidential aspirants there would be no havoc?
Come on folks, that's politics.

The party's democratic credentials must serve as a safety net in these
situations, unless of course all that talk of democratic credentials is just
surface dressing. I have sounded the warning several times in these columns
and elsewhere that the NPP's "open-ended" succession strategy could yet
bring the party to grief, and have been put down either as an alarmist or
the enemy of this or that presidential aspirant. The chickens are simply
scampering in, one by one to where they roost.

If at 55 years of age - considerably older than some of the NPP presidential
aspirants - I cannot make judgment based on good conscience, knowledge and
experience, when oh when can I then ever grow?!

By the way on September 16 2007, I will be 55. 55 years of witnessing
Ghana's independence in 1957, Ghana's first coup d'etat in 1966, and so many
other of Ghana's firsts and so much fun and games!
I wrote some time ago that September seems to be a month of certain
destinies: WWII and 9/11 for example. The NPP's month of destiny is
September, because in just two or so weeks time, nominations would open for
presidential aspirants to file their papers for the December congress that
would elect a presidential candidate for Election 2008. It could be the
beginning of greater things for the party, or the road to Armageddon...

Just in....
