President Cup 2019: GHALCA Ready To Move Hearts-Kotoko Clash To Accra

Chairman of the Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA), Kudjoe Fianoo has disclosed that the organizers of the 2019 President Cup are ready to move the fixture to Accra in case the Baba Yara Sports Stadium will not be available.

The two Ghana Premier League giants, Asante Kotoko and Hearts of Oak locked horns in the President cup last Sunday but could not see out the entire 90 minutes due to poor conditions of the pitch.

The water-soaked nature of the pitch following a heavy downpour forced the referee for the day to call off the big game after just 10 minutes of action.

The match is set to be rescheduled to a later date but might not be played at the same venue due to its impending closure for some renovations works to be done.

Due to that, GHALCA has noted that the game could be moved to the capital city to be played at the Accra Sports Stadium.

In an interview with the media, Kudjoe Fianoo shared “There could be a change of venue if the Baba Yara Stadium will not be available because the stadium was supposed to be closed for renovations but for Kotoko's participation in Africa”.

Meanwhile, the organizers of the fixture are considering either October 6 or October 13 for the match to be played. Further consultations with stakeholders are expected to be held before a final decision is taken.
