Don’t Underestimate Kotoko – George Amoako

As Kumasi Asante Kotoko prepares for their CAF Confederations Cup Group stage matches, General Manager for the club Mr. George Amoako has indicated that they should not be underestimated.

Ghana’s only representative in this year’s CAF Confederations Cup has been pitted in Group C with Sudan’s Al Hilal as well as Zesco United and Nkana Red Devils – all of Zambia. It is a group which looks difficult for Kotoko to progress out of, taking into consideration the recent performance of the teams they will be coming up against.

Speaking on Asempa FM this morning however, Mr. George Amoako insists he is confident the Porcupine Warriors will advance from the group and they are taking steps to ensure they achieve their goal.

“The competent people are working very hard to ensure what we sent out into this group stage can meet the challenges. I have confidence in what they are doing and I can sit here and say we will do very well in the group stage”.

“We will do very well. Don’t underestimate us. Obviously we need to look at attack. We need to work on that and we need to be able to score and that is exactly where we are looking at strengthening”, Mr. George Amoako said.

Kotoko is currently in the market in search of reinforcements to beef up their squad ahead of the group stage matches. They have been strongly linked with Ashanti Gold’s Shafui Mumuni, Richard Djodi and James Akaminko.

Their first match in this phase will be an away game against Al Hilal on February 3.
