Accra Hearts of Oak’s six games unbeaten run under new manager Kim Grant has ended today after the team stumbled to a 2-1 defeat to lower division side Royal Fc in a friendly encounter at the Pobiman Park.

The Phobians have been on an unbeaten run under the tutorage of the former Black Stars striker who took over the club last year December. Grant since commencing work as first team coach had led the team to five victories and a draw in the previous six matches they have played.

They could however not go seven games unbeaten and it took the tenacity of Royal Fc to stop them in their tracks. In a game highly dominated by Hearts of Oak, they fell short in terms of the goal scoring.

Failing to convert the numerous chances that came their way, the rainbow boys were punished by the away side’s forward Kofi Kordzi who netted a brace on the day. A goal in each half and a second which he converted from the penalty spot.

Hearts prodigy Obeng Jnr pulled one back for them after heading home a cross from MacKarthy at the near post.

With the seven games played so far under Kim Grant, Hearts have scored 17 goals, conceded just 3 and amassed 17 points. It is a record they can surely improve going forward especially now that the Normalization Committee’s special competition is set to start on February 3, 2019.
