Former Asante Kotoko coach, Michael Osei has charged the supporters of the club to support head coach of the club, Charles Kwablan Akonnor as the team prepares for its colossal assignment against Cameroon side Cotton Sports in the Confederations Cup.

The former Black Stars skipper has come under intense pressure from the supporters of the club after their stalemate against Ashanti Gold in the John Agyekum Kuffour’s [JAK Cup] ceremonial match last Sunday.

However, ahead of their Sunday clash with the Cameroonian champions, the Star Madrid head coach argues that it is too early for the supporters to demand instant results since there is no competitive football in the country to shape and keep the players active.

“Expectation is too much from the supporters of the club and it will be very needful for them to lower it now in other not to be disappointed," he told kickgh.com.

The national U-23 deputy coach believes the former Dreams FC gaffer has what it takes to power the Ghanaian giants to reach a greater height.

“C.K Akonnor is a fine coach with lots of potentials and has capabilities to push Kotoko forward, therefore, there is a need for the supporters to rally behind him because the players have not been active since last year June.

“I will encourage the supporters to understand the dynamics of the game now to avoid enormous pressure on the coach,” he added.

C K Akonnor succeeded Paa Kwesi Fabian as head coach of Asante Kotoko in November 2018 after the former vacated his role as head coach of the club.
