GTA to upgrade knowledge base of coaches and players

Accra, Nov 17, GNA - The Ghana Tennis Association (GTA), with the aid of a top German expert Magner, who will be arriving in the country for a month-long stay, would be organising a series of programmes to upgrade the technical skills of local players and coaches. A statement by Mr. PK Attah, General Secretary of the GTTA said, among the programmes lined up are a two-week intensive physical and technical training exercise for national Under 16 and 18 players at the Wenneba Sports College from November 29 to December 11. It said the clinic for the players, would be followed by another week-long coaching exercise, this time for trainers and level one coaches from December 18 to 22.

The statement said the visit of the German expert is as a result of negotiation between the GTTA and the German embassy in Accra. In a related development, two level one coaches from Ghana - Joseph Acquah and Richard Gyebi will travel to Abuja, Nigeria for ITF Level 2 Coaching Course from November 21 to December 2.
