Ghana and Chelsea legend, Michael Essien turns 36 years old today.

The former Liberty Professionals product was regarded as one of the best midfielders in world football during his days at Chelsea.

Essien is currently clubless after leaving Indonesia side Persib Bandung early this year.

However, the combative middleman has revealed that he will officially hang his boots in 2020 and have expressed his desire venturing into coaching.

Essien won 2 Premier League trophies, 4 FA Cups, 1 League Cup, 1 Community Shield and 1 UEFA Champions during his days at Chelsea.

He was also named BBC Africa Player of the Year in 2006 and was named Ghana Player of the Year and Chelsea Player of the Year in 2007.

The Ghanaian played for clubs like Bastia, Lyon, Chelsea, Real Madrid, AC Milan and Panathinaikos F.C.
