Coach Yussif Abubakar of Aduana Stars Coach has credited the 'Coach of the Year' award conferred on him by the Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG), to the club's owner and bankroller Osagyefo Nana Agyemang-Badu II, who doubles as the Paramount Chief of Dormaa Ahenkro.

The 2017 Ghana Premier League (GPL) tactician, won the 'Best Coach of the Year' award, whiles his team of 'Ogya lads' won the 'Male Team of the Year' award for 2017.

Speaking to the GNA Sports, coach Abubakar said his players and staff as well as the management, played a key in his success, adding that though there were difficult times, the club's owner managed to see them through.

He said Nana Agyemang Badu II, had done a great job by being able to keep a team like Aduana competing at the topmost level in both local league and continental competitions.

'Not to mention the godfather of the team, Nana Agyemang Badu, Osagyefo has done a lot. Managing a team alone in Ghana, on the local league, it is not easy, let alone competing at the continental level.

'It is a big burden on him and we pray he continues to have the strength to keep running this wonderful football club', he added.

Coach Yussif said his personal recognition, 'Coach of the Year', was a plus to the whole team and a testament to how good his players were.

He said although the award would be part of his Curriculum Vitae (CV), it was due to the success of the whole team and the help he got from fans as well.
