Asante Kotoko Don’t Have The Quality To Compete In Africa – Charles Taylor

DEC 15, 2017 LISTEN

Former Asante Kotoko midfielder, Charles Taylor believes the team does not have the quality to compete in the 2018 CAF Confederations Cup next season.

The Porcupine Warriors who won the 2017 MTN FA Cup will play Congolese side CARA Brazzaville in the preliminary stage of the competition.

Taylor, who played in many Africa competition during his days in football believes the current crop of players at the club does not have the mental toughness to compete at the highest level.

“I strongly believe it will be difficult for the Kotoko team if they are to rely on this current team especially when they have not made enough signing.” He told Kumasi based Abusua FM. “A lot of the players are yet to taste continental action.

“Ghana football as it stands now is in an all-time downward trajectory. Ghana is lacking in terms of inter-club competition. Kotoko needs strong minded people to compete.

“They have individual players but I am afraid they cannot take the club to the expected level that will excite the supporters of the club. A lot of the players are not up to the required standard to compete at the highest level.

“The level of the local league cannot be used as a yardstick by the clubs to prepare for Africa club competition,” he added.

Asante Kotoko are returning to inter-club competitions once again since 2015 when they were crashed out by Algerian side MC Eulma.
