The University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR) Basketball club has won the second season of the GSP Basketball League. The UENR club was declared the winner on the basis of superior points difference as they were tied with Suncity Braves with 24 points each.

The first season of the league was won in 2015 by the Suncity Braves after a nail bitting final game with the UENR Club. The GSP Basketball league was founded in 2015 by Mr Edward Twum Anane, a Catholic University Lecturer, to promote the development of the game in the country. The league is recognized by Ghana sports authority and Ghana basketball association.

The winners of the league took home a trophy and cash prize. Cash prizes were also given to second and third best clubs. The Most Valuable Player (MVP) was Fiifi Brew of UENR. All the 54 games in the eight months were played at the Eusbetth Hotel basketball court in Sunyani.

In a speech delivered at the end of the league, Mr Edward Twum Anane disclosed that, in support of the government sports in schools policy, two tertiary schools will be admitted into the league in the 2017/2018 season. The next season will start in September 2017.
