Mawuli Secondary emerge overall champions

Ho, (V/R), March 15, GNA - Mawuli Secondary School emerged the overall champions of the 32nd Central Zone Schools Athletics competition when they beat the defending champions, Awudome Secondary School (Awusco) by 121 points to 116 points. The competition, which attracted 16 schools saw Kpedze Secondary School taking the third position with 75 points followed by Tsito Secondary Technical (Sec-Tech) with 71 points in fourth position. Awusco however maintained its supremacy in the Girls category when they came first with 106 points followed by OLA Girls in second position with 84 points with Kpedze and Abutia Secondary Schools settling for the third and fourth places with 56 and 42 points respectively. Saint Prospers College beat Awusco 1-0 to lift the Boy's football trophy while Tsito Secondary Technical also overpowered Abutia Secondary 1-0 to place third.
Agotime Girls defeated Mawuko Girls 1-0 in the Girls football to take home the football trophy.
In the Boys Handball competition, Tsito Secondary Technical came first followed by Awudome Secondary while Kpedze Secondary won the Girls trophy followed by Mawuko Girls.
Mawuli School won the Boys basketball trophy with Awudome Secondary and Tsito Seccondary Technical following in that order. Mawuko Girls won the Girls' basketball event followed by Mawuli School with OLA Girls settling for the third position.
Mrs Christiana Hussein of Tsito Sec. Tech., the secretary of the Central Zonal Athletics competition in an interview with the GNA Sports said she was impressed about this year's festival so far as the discipline and performance of the athletes were concerned.
She said she was therefore looking forward to an excellent showing by the Central Zone during the fourth-coming inter-Zones competition scheduled for the 26th of April to the 3rd of May this year.
