Kumasi, Jan 30, GNA - The Ashanti Region Second Division Middle League will kick-off on Monday, January 31 at the Heroes Park near the Kumasi Sports stadium.

The competition will involve Owerriman Football Club from Konongo in the Asante-Akim North District, Kumasi Metro Stars, Kessben F/C, Ogyinga Stars and Obuasi MBC F/C.

Mr Christian Kwame Yeboah, Chairman of the Ashanti Region Football Association, who spoke to the GNA Sports in Kumasi on Sunday, said two matches would be played daily.

He said Owerriman would play against Ogyinga Stars in the first match on Monday with Metro Stars locking horns with Obuasi MBC in the second match.

Mr Yeboah said that the League would continue on Wednesday, February 2 and Friday, February 4 at the same venue. He said that the winner of the competition will have an automatic promotion to the National Division One league.

Mr Yeboah asked supporters and players of the competing clubs to exhibit a high sense of discipline and sportsmanship during and after matches in order to have a successful competition.

"Any club's supporters and players who embark on rowdyism or demonstrate any form of indiscipline to disrupt the programme will face disciplinary action", he said.

He said that the Regional Third Division Middle League for promotion to the Second Division would also be held after the Second Division Middle League.

The Chairman therefore called on District Sports Development Officers to endeavour to complete their programmes so that the league can take off on time.
