The Ghana Football Association (GFA) in collaboration with Confederation of African Football (CAF) organized CAF LICENSE ‘C’ Coaching course with emphasizes on upgrading the knowledge of coaches and Methodology of the game from 14th to 25th of May at University Of Education, Winneba. The course drew participation from Sixty (60) coaches majority of who were Bsc. Sports Coaching and Physical Education Students’ from the University of Education, and the younger generation of coaches such as Ayinbire Norbert(Elegant1), Kwame Nkrumah, Sandra Boakye, Francis Bawomya Moari amongst others with the objectives of learning some modern trends, developments in football and Methodology of the game.

The Course Director Mr. Anthony K. Edusei said the two week course provided a platform for coaches of different levels to exchange and share ideas geared towards the development of the game in Ghana. Among topics treated at the course held under the technical supervision and directorship of CAF instructors Mr. Anthony K. Edusei, Mr. Francis Oti-Akenteng, Prof. Mintah, Mr. Masud Didi Dramani are; Training, tactics, Laws of the game, Periodization, Small Sided games, Leadership, game analysis, Formations and Systems, etc with excellent participation from the coaches present.

CAF Director of Football Development Mr. Abdel Moneim Hussein and Mr. Dominique Niyonzima (CAF Football Development Member) alongside the CAF instructors in the course evaluated the performance of the participants together. Mr. Abdel Moneim Hussein, expressed satisfaction with the response of the participants in the various fields of study including the E-Learning pilot testing program which showed the zeal of the coaches to climb the coaching ladder.

“The response of the participants is highly satisfactory. The participants appeared very prepared and ready for the course with a lot of enthusiasm from the very day we came here to the end of this course and it has perfectly reflected in their overall performance especially in the practical examination and the pilot E-Learning program and we must recommend everyone here to CAF for the excellent job done”.

GFA Technical Director / the Course Coordinator Mr. Francis Oti-Akenteng also expressed his delight on the performance and attitude of the participants and Inspired them to go out there and make the difference by inculcating the practical and theoretical knowledge gained in the program into their players and their communities in order to help grow the game in the country and the continent at large.

One of the participants Odame Richard Kwadwo, commended CAF, GFA and the Instructors for their dedicated and diligent attitude towards the Programme which really improved all participants knowledge on the technical, tactical and philosophy of grassroots football.

“On behalf of my co-participants here and my own behalf, we are very elated to have taken part in this course as we learnt many vital aspects of the game. We are aspiring for much higher level and I must commend CAF, GFA and our astute sports Instructors here for putting together such an educative and informative Programme for grassroots and amateur level coaches”.

Each of the participants was presented with a Certificate of Attendance from CAF at the end of the course. Ghana becomes the first African country to use the CAF E-Learning Programme and University of Education the first university in Africa to have offered its sports facilities and Internet Café for free in the history of the Programme.
