Homowo tournament to be launched tomorrow

Accra, Aug 11, GNA - Phoenix Consult Limited in conjunction with Global Media Alliance will on Thursday, August 12, launched the novelty Homowo tournament for four Accra based Premier League clubs.

The tourney, which is scheduled to kick start on August 27 to 29, will see Hearts of Oak, Liberty Professional, Great Olympics and newly promoted Real Sportive vying for the 15 million cedi cash prize for the winner with the runners up taking home 10 million cedis.

The competition will be launched at the Regency Hotel in Accra and will be attended by the Acting Ga Mantse, Nii Adotey Obour, Nii Adjiri Blankson, Mayor of Accra, Sheikh Ibrahim C. Quaye, Greater Accra Regional Minister and the Minister of Education, Youth and Sports, Mr Kwadwo Baah Wiredu.

The organisers told the GNA Sports that Somotex Ghana Limited, distributors of LG electronics will be the exclusive sponsors for the tourney after committing 120 million cedis into the competition. The deal is a three renewable contract, hence the tourney has been branded "LG Homowo Cup" and each participating team will take home 20 million cedis towards their preparations plus a share of the gate proceeds.

Other sponsors of the four club tournament include Unique Insurance Company who are insuring the competition with 500 million cedis and ten million cash package for the teams whilst Nu Metro Theatres have also committed 25 couples movie tickets to each of the competing teams.
