Ghana will arrive in Brazil hoping to get off to winning start on their opening day of World Cup finals.

Lots rest with Ghana's first indigenous coach to guide the Black Stars to the World Cup, Kwesi Appiah, whose only focus is on their opening day match against the U.S on 16 June.

Ghana on their debut at the 2006 World Cup in Germany lost to Italy in the first group game but were winners four years later as they beat Serbia in their opening fixture in South Africa, where Appiah was an assistant coach.

Having picked up the reins from there, Appiah, a former international and captain is aware of how crucial their game with the U.S will be to their campaign in a tough Group G which also includes Germany and Portugal.

"America is got a very good team. The coach is doing well and he has brought some new players in and looking at the game that they've played recently, there's no way anyone can underrate them," Appiah said before naming his final 23-man squad for the World Cup.

"I believe that they are one of the best teams in the tournament. It's not going to be easy but we will do well to give them a good game."

Ghana will be making their third-straight appearance when the World Cup starts in Brazil.
