Following the week long threat of a boycott of the forthcoming Mortein Boxing league by eight of the ten gyms in the Grater Accra Region, the Ghana Boxing Authority has finally agreed to enter into talks with the gyms. It has accordingly organized an impromptu meeting tomorrow to try to diffuse the tensions which has threatened seriously to mare the league.

The eight gyms earlier this week petition the GBA to pay them a combined debt of 30 million cedis being the participation fees the authority had promised them after the Mortein Boxing league ended officially on the 28th of February 2004.The Authority today arrived at the decision to meet all concerned parties tomorrow also promising to consider other demands by the gyms. The gyms among other things threatened not compromise with the authority if it fails to increase the participation fees from five hundred thousand to one million five hundred thousand cedis and withdraw the name of Referee Annan from the list of referees for the next Mortein Boxing League.
