David Accam is happy to inch closer to fulfilling his boyhood dream, playing for his country, Ghana.

The 22 year old striker, who has been a regular for Swedish side, Helsingborg now has the opportunity to show off his skills with Ghana after earning his first call up.

“I am really excited to be in Ghana and it's every boy's dream to play for his country. It's always amazing to play for your country so I am really happy,” Accam said.

He is part of Kwesi Appiah's squad for the up-coming 2014 World Cup qualifier against Sudan on Sunday in Kumasi.

A Ghana call up always brings a certain level of expectation but Accam is eager to step into the limelight himself.

“Anytime you get into football it's about pressure. I play in the Champions League, there is a massive pressure in Sweden for people to watch you play.

“Pressure on the pitch is the same everywhere, so I can cope with the pressure,” the Helsingborg striker said.

Aside the pressure that comes with the game, Accam says the opportunity to play football always motivates him.

“I love to play football. Anytime I score, I am happy, my family are happy and my friends are happy. I would do my best and I would not do anything different. I would just do what I am used to like taking players on and scoring goals,” says Accam.
