Gideon Baah Is Set For A Loan Move To Finland

Asante Koto0ko defender Gideon Baah is on the verge of sealing a loan move to an unnamed Finish club, claims his agent Eby Emenike.

The 21-year-old has struggled for regular first team action under coach Mas-Ud Dramani.

An agreement according to Emenike has thus been reached with Kotoko officials to have Baah move on loan to regain full fitness through regular action.

“Yes, I can confirm that a club in the Veikkausliga (Finnish Premier League) has shown an interest in signing Gideon (Baah) for a season long loan,” the UK-based agent said.

“I am working with Kotoko to get things in place for him to take up this opportunity, through Mirage Academy Owned by Sarpong Boateng and his partner former Chelsea Player Seth Nana Ofori Twumasi who knew Gideon Baah at Chelsea football club after winning the MTN competition back in Ghana, through Ofori Twumasi and Sarpong Boateng who works closely with FIFA license agent Tony Awor we managed to get him this opportunity in Finland.

The Darkuman based Academy's aim is to help give talented footballers from Africa opportunities in Europe just like we have done with Gideon working closely with a lot of FIFA license agents.

“Their transfer window will open in a few weeks which makes it possible for the move.

“Kotoko's reaction to the loan stint was positive and they are happy for him to go and experience Europe.

“He was not getting enough playing time at Kotoko, so it was time to see what else was out there for him.

“However, he is still a Kotoko player and is due to return after the loan spell.”

Emenike went on to explain the choice of destination for the left-back – knowing the tranfer window in Finland is due to open in the coming days.

“A few clubs were interested in him but I believe this club is the right level for Gideon at the moment,” she added.

“The club plays in the highest tier of Finnish football and will be playing in the Europa Qualifying rounds.

“I think football in Scandinavia will be good for him coming straight from Ghana. It will hopefully be a stepping stone and lead onto bigger things.

“Some young African players have gone straight into the 'big' leagues and have struggled to break into the first team.

“I hope he'll break into the first team easily enough and get some experience and exposure.

“Kotoko has been good to Gideon and he in turn has been loyal to the club, but this is a decision based on his career progression.

“He will forever be grateful to Kotoko and their fans who have given him their unflinching support.”

Baah only signed a two-year contract extension at Kotoko in August last year – a move believed to have been made to secure the financial interest of the Kumasi-based club in the event the ex Sporting Mirren player moves on.
