MP for Bantama donates sport equipment to some teams in her constituency

Madam Cecilia Abenaa Dapaah, Member of Parliament for Bantama at the weekend donated some sports equipment worth 2,500 Ghana cedis to sporting clubs in her constituency in Kumasi.

The items included ten sets of jerseys and ten footballs were donated to five electoral areas in the constituency namely Bantama, Suntreso, Abrepo Junction, Adoato and Bohyen

Madam Dapaah also Minister of State in-charge of Works, Housing and Water Resources, said it was her desire to support and promote the development of sports especially among the youth in the area.

This, she said, would help in unifying the people to ensure peace among them at all times.

Madam Dapaah said the government was committed to the development of education in the country and said the introduction of the Capitation Grant and School Feeding Programme and others were ample testimonies of government's efforts to promote education in the country.

The Minister assured them that she would support brilliant and needy students at all levels of education to enable them contribute meaningfully towards the socio-economic development of the country in future.

Mr Kwaku Owiredu, who received the items of behalf of the clubs, said unemployment among the youth was a major problem in the area and appealed to the MP to assist the youth to get employment to help improve their living conditions.

He urged her also to assist them in developing football fields to enhance sporting activities.
