Olympics coach jumps before push

Great Olympics coach Nii Adu Sackey has jumped before he was pushed by the struggling OneTouch Premier League side.

The coach of the Accra-based side was teetering on the brink of a sack following the club's poor start to the season.

Sackey is believed to have thrown in the towel in an attempt to rob some Olympics fans of the satisfaction of a clean kill.

Many fans waited at the El Wak Sports Stadium for four hours on Sunday night threatening to physically assault the coach after their 1-0 defeat at the hands of Real Tamale United.

But the fed-up trainer has handed in his resignation letter to save himself from the threats of the supporters.

"I they think I am the stumbling block between them and victory - then I will drop," the exasperated coach told Ghanasoccernet.com.

Olympics management members insist they were not interested in sacking the coach but Ghanasoccernet is reliably informed that a defeat to Kotoko today would have finished his spell at the club.

The club say Sackey is still in charge but the coach failed to travel with the team to Kumasi where they face Kotoko on Wednesday.

Even if he somehow comes back from the dead, through the continued support of management, Sackey's resignation has ensured that his relationship with the fans will be uncomfortable.

Great Olympics fans are experiencing a great sense of déj? vu following their relegation two seasons ago.

They are at the foot of the table with a point from four games .
