Coach Ibrahim Tanko to reduce provisional squad for U23 AFCON to 21 players

The head coach of the Black Meteors, Ibrahim Tanko will be watching closely in training in the next two weeks to come up with the final squad for the U23 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament.

The tactician on Thursday, June 8, announced a provisional squad of 29 players ahead of the trip to Egypt next week.

Per the modalities of the U23 AFCON, Coach Ibrahim Tanko can only take 21 players to the tournament scheduled to be staged in Morocco.

As a result, coach Ibrahim Tanko is required to drop as many as 8 players from his provisional squad list.

Ghana is preparing for the U23 AFCON determined to secure qualification for the 2024 Olympic Games in France.

At the U23 AFCON, the Black Meteors will face off with host nation Morocco, as well as Guinea and Congo.

This year’s U23 AFCON will kick off on June 24 and end on July 8.
