Ghana international, Mohammed Kudus was a standout performer for Ajax on Thursday night when the team suffered a 3-1 defeat to Union Berlin in Germany.
The Dutch Eredivisie giants played as a guest to the German Bundesliga team in the second leg encounter of the Round 32 stage of this season’s Europa League.
The first meeting between the two sides ended in a goalless stalemate last week.
Today, Ajax set up strong to record a win away from home to advance in the European competition.
Although star attacker Mohammed Kudus would find the back of the net for his team, the side fell short at the end of the 90 minutes and lost 3-1.
Union Berlin carried the day thanks to goals from Robin Knoche, Josip Juranovic, and Danilho Doekhi.
The defeat means that Ajax are now out of the Uefa Champions League and the Europa League as well.
Following his goal today, Mohammed Kudus now has 15 goals in the 2022/23 football season.
The Black Stars poster boy has nine goals in the Dutch Eredivisie, four in the Champions League, and one each in the KNVB and Europa League respectively.
With the prospect of winning European silverware out of the window, Ajax and Mohammed Kudus will now focus on defending their Dutch Eredivisie title.
This weekend, the team will face off with Vitesse on Sunday, February 26.
That game will kick off at 13:30gmt.
