Elmina Sharks will compete in the National Division One League in the 2022/23 football season following the team’s relegation from the Ghana Premier League.
The team based in the Central Region has since the start of the 2021/22 season struggled and as are result has not been able to compete.
On Sunday afternoon, Elmina Sharks travelled to Berekum to take on Chelsea in a matchday 31 encounter of the league season.
Unfortunately, all efforts of the team to secure a win to stay in the fight to avoid the relegation could not materialize.
Berekum Chelsea proved too strong for Elmina Sharks and managed to cruise past the struggling side.
On the matchday, goals from Emmanuel Sarpong, Hanry Ainsu, and Collins Ameyaw propelled Berekum Chelsea to the big win.
Courtesy of the defeat, Elmina Sharks have lost the relegation fight and will compete in the National Division One League next season.
The relegated side could be joined by WAFA SC, Eleven Wonders, RTU, and King Faisal depending on results from the next couple of games.
